The ADAPTtoCLIMATE Organizing Committee would like to thank you all for your high interest in the Conference.


The Scientific Committee is pleased to announce that the International Conference “ADAPTtoCLIMATE” will be held at the Filoxenia Conference Centre in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 27th & 28th March, 2014.

The conference participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, views and ideas on climate change impacts, vulnerabilities and adaptation. The conference will include oral and poster presentation sessions.

Call for papers

Authors wishing to submit a paper should send an Abstract to the Scientific Secretariat by 30th November 2013. The abstracts should be between 300-500 words in English.

The conference will include invited and reviewed papers on the topics listed below.

Papers on the following topics are welcome:

  • Observed & projected impacts in natural & human systems
  • Climate change information and climate services 
  • Climate change vulnerability assessment and indicators
  • Mapping vulnerability and adaptive capacity
  • Understanding and enhancing resilience
  • Monitoring and measuring adaptation
  •  Limits to adaptation and maladaptation
  • Disaster preparedness and emergency planning         
  • Legal, institutional and financial aspects of adaptation
  • Decision-making under uncertainty
  • Adaptation strategies and plans
  • Decision tools on adaptation
  • Mainstreaming climate adaptation
  • Adaptation cases studies: organisational, sectoral & regional
  • Land use planning, adaptation and the built environment


Registration: There is no registration fee. Advanced registration is strongly recommended.

The deadline for registration for participating in the AdaptToClimate social events is on the 15th of March 2014.

It is noted that certificates of attendance will be provided to all participants of the ADAPTtoCLIMATE Conference.

The best papers will be published after review in a special volume of the Journal “REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE” (SPRINGER, 2012 Impact Factor: 1.945). Furthermore, selected papers focusing on water will be published in a special volume of the Journal “DESALINATION & WATER TREATMENT” (Taylor & Francis), while selected papers focusing on both climate and development may be considered for publication in the Journal “CLIMATE & DEVELOPMENT” (Taylor & Francis).
